Well I had my 36 week appointment yesterday. And let me tell ya...I had more questions leaving than I did coming in. The biggest one being: is this baby coming a lot sooner than we thought??
Okay, as you know I've been having some "pre-labor" signs. (Diarrhea, nausea, cramping, period like pains, general "uncomfy-ness") All of these signs are very typical in late pregnancy and lead to delivery. And it can happen anywhere between a day to a month before you actually go into labor...
...so basically that leaves me exactly where I'm at.
However, I lost a pound since my last visit. The doctor didn't say that was a bad thing, but did say that I should probably eat smaller meals through out the day instead of three big ones. However, I've been eating more now than ever. Even with aching teeth, I've been eating like crazy. (Just not sweets...cause that shit HURTS like a MO FO) The baby had a good healthy heart rate of 154, even if it took the nurse a little to find it. (Just because his butt is on the one side, doesn't mean his whole body is...yea...apparently he's all twisted up in there.) He is also right in place for delivery! His head is down, and starting to descend into my pelvis. But, he hasn't dropped yet. He might not actually drop until I go into labor.
The only issue that we have right now is my fundal height. (The length of my uterus.) From week 20 on, they mesure your uterus from the top of you pubic bone to the top of the uterus. I have been measuring about a week or two ahead, which is normal. And when you are a bigger woman, your fundal height is usually bigger than an itty bitty woman's. However, I am now measuring 40 weeks instead of 36. There are a few reasons why that could be.
1. The baby is HUGE.
2. There's too much amniotic fluid.
3. I'm further than what doctor's believe - which is what I think is the root of the issue.
If the doctor was really concerned he didn't let on. But I think at my next appointment if I'm still measuring big I think they are going to send me for an ultrasound to see how big he really is. And depending on what they find out I might be having this baby sooner than expected. I'm still crossing my fingers that I don't need to be induced or have a c-section.
I was told to watch out for contractions. And if I even have a question if I think I'm in labor to call the OB and come in.
Basically, I can have him at any time now.
They think he's ready to come, but it could still be a number of weeks.
Stay in there baby...cook a little longer!
Until Next Time:
